I start my to do lists...

... with things that I've already done.

I do this because as a procrastinator, it gives me a feeling of accomplishment - look what I've already got done! In fact this is the best self-help advice anyone could give, what a self confidence boost - you haven't even really started doing anything, and something is already done!

It also helps to have very nice paper on which to write your to do list. My good friend who does Stampin' Up made me this very nice clipboard full of printed paper, with a Shakespeare quote on it: One touch of nature makes the whole world kin. I think deep thoughts as I write my to do lists to make up for the fact that I don't want to put anything too strenuous on there... although for some reason housework always ends up being on there, as much as I might not want it to.

So, my to do this for this week is already made up written to the tune of "Tubthumping" (yes, I am old school). Humming along with something fun and frivolous is another way of taking my mind off of things I need to do and would rather avoid, like covering the council meeting tomorrow night and having to endure sitting on those horridly uncomfortable benches. I honestly think they made them that way to discourage spectators. I, unfortunately have no choice.

Today's lesson: start your to do list with something you've already done (preferably keep it to the same day or at least week) and a spoonful of sugar (or Tubthumping) really does help the medicine go down.

I also find that vigorous scratching out of items completed is also very satisfying.

I, too, start my to-do list with things I've already done. I also have a habit of doing odd things around the house that aren't on my list & then adding them to the list & crossing them off- this also gives one a sense of accomplishment! : )
