Due South!
I have been given the official OK by my doctor to take my twice-postponed trip Down South. With all the stuff that's been going on in my health, it was touch and go for about a week.
I had another UTI infection about two weeks ago, and given my history (this is how my kidney infection started way back in February), my doctor was reluctant to sign the note for the airline. Not only could another kidney infection come up, but infections also can start early labour. "I don't want to see you in the hospital next week," he said, making an attempt at humour while I was thinking, despairingly and disappointedly, I'm sick again? Will I never get better? I have to cancel my trip again?
Needless to say I followed the doctor's advice and got my antiobiotics prescription filled out that day. My doctor is not one to mince words. Get. the. prescription. today. Start. taking. them. today.
So. I. did. (partially motivated by fear).
But yesterday, after having finished the course of amoxicillin I went back to the doctor and we had a great chat about flying and airlines and labour etc. and I am going! Next week! I am really looking forward to this because this will probably be the last time I can go solo or sans bebe for atleast a year or two. My other sister D is coming down from Calgary and it should be a whirlwind week of shopping, Starbucks, sleeping in, staying up late, and just hanging out with my sisters, parents, and hopefully some good friends whom I haven't seen in such a long time.
Since I last posted things have finally come together:
1) Flood threat is over! Now we can set up the baby and move stuff back downstairs for the last time.
2) Course: passed with flying colours!
3) Bureaucracay: finally came through and I got all my paperwork in. Now I just have to wait for dear old Service Canada to approve of my mat leave. Call me a bum, call me lazy, but I am kind of relishing the idea of staying home for a year and getting paid for it.
4) Hmmmm.... I wish I had something more witty to write... I also wish that it would stop raining enough for me to actually weed my garden... you would think it was the Lower Mainland with all the dreary clouds and wet stuff that's taking place outside. This has not been a good weather year up here at all... But being the hardcore water sportsman he is, M and his brothers went out last night to the lake and waterskiied.
5) The name game: We're starting to rethink (again) one of the names we've got picked out. This is actually more serious than it sounds. This late in the game and we're still undecided and our daughter (if we have one) could end up being named Matilda or something... probably not, but you never know. We're both really, really, really, really, choosy when it comes to this kind of thing. I'm just glad the boy's name we picked out has stood the test of time. I'm welcoming suggestions at this point (you would think that we would have atleast found one out of the 94,000 names in the name book, but no). So bring the suggestions on...
6) Does anyone actually remember the show Due South with the extremely good-looking Mountie? Sigh... they just don't make tv shows like they used to...
7) Please send some SUNSHINE.

About names: don't use ours. Just teasing.
