literary heroes
Thinking about "Pride & Prejudice" always makes me think about Mr. Darcy. While watching the movie last night I realised that he goes in history as one of the most-loved literary heroes.
Who can resist him - that charming, brooding, misunderstood man?
Tied with Mr. Darcy for first place (on my list anyways) is Gilbert Blythe, of Anne of Green Gables.
Why do we love them so much? What make them so irresistable? Is it because of their never-ending pursuit and passion for the women they love? I think it's because of that, and because they are so believable when they do it.

Nothing can beat the way Darcy twirls and fiddles with his ring in the A&E version - it is magnificent! I like Darcy in the movie, but I have always wondered if I would like the man in person. Would I have the ability to see past his stolid show? And would I want to?
Great topic Di! There is so much to get out of P & P!
