homeward bound?
Tomorrow Mike and I drive "Down South" (which is the Northerners term for the Lower Mainland) for his sister's wedding on Friday. When I talk about it to people, sometimes the phrase "We're going home" slips out. I always have to stop myself, because it isn't really home anymore. After being here for 3 going on 4 months, Houston is starting to be home, as strange as that is to admit to myself.
But even though it might not be "home" anymore, I am looking forward to going there. I am really looking forward to seeing my family and spending time with them... The Flokstra women have this tradition of shopping til we drop whenever we get together. Shopping and going out for Starbucks coffee... Can it get any better than that? That's the plan for Thursday, so even if you wanted to get a hold of me that day, you're going to be SOL. Friday is the wedding, and we're driving back up on Saturday, so really the only free time is Wednesday. This is going to be a whirlwind trip because we only have 4 days off. Both of us started new jobs recently and we took 2 weeks off at Christmas, so this was just a short trip. We do have to work for a living... :)
I know I havent' done an update about Northern Living for awhile (after being sidetracked by Mr. Darcy) - I'll be sure to do that when we get back. Things continue to go well... The most exciting news is that we put an offer in on a house, and it was accepted! Mike and I are so excited! We're just waiting for paperwork to go through... so much paperwork! But I'll keep you posted. It's a great little house - a large living room, 2 bedrooms upstairs... The kitchen needs to be redone, so I might get a cool IKEA kitchen! We just have to do some painting - all the trim is this bright coral orange colour! But it's perfect - a huge lawn with a lilac bush and an apple tree and enough room for me to try my hand at gardening!
I'll keep you posted!
