chasing the sunset
There is a stretch of Highway 16 just past Prince George that runs straight West before it curves off to head towards Vanderhoof. As Mike and I were driving home last night we reached that part just as the sun was setting. We were really driving off into the sunset... or as Mike said, "It's like we were chasing the sunset." Beautiful. And romantic.
Wildlife seen on this trip (not counting my brothers-in-law - just joking :) ...deer - 13 (one in Langley, of all places, on the side of Highway 1); moose - 1; cats - 1; dogs - many; small creatures of unknown species (because only could see samll, beady eyes reflected the headlights) (possibly raccoon) - 2.
So the trip was a success after all was said and done, but it was BUSY! The days were filled to the brim, but it was a good kind of busy-ness. Mike and I are buying a house so we had to meet with our banker and arrange all the banking stuff. Then we had to buy him a tie because his is lost. How do you lose a tie?
Anyways, I had a great time shopping with my Mom and my sister, Kris. I can live off of that shopping high for awhile now. Does anyone else think that the styles for Spring are a little schizophrenic? It's like they're trying to find all the good things from the bad fashion decade that was the 80's. Impossible. However, my sister-in-law did manage to find a killer pair of brown opened-toe shoes from Aldos. I just might have to get those.
The wedding was on Friday and went off without a hitch - other than that it was very cold when we took family pictures. But the food was delicious! They had a brunch buffet and there was a guy making waffles! Fresh waffles made right before your eyes! And there were strawberries and whipping cream to top it all off. Delectable! The only thing missing was a fresh mimosa...
It was great to see everybody in the family again. That is what makes these trips. It is hard being away from everyone and then having to pack in all that quality time in 4 days. But it is good to be home.
