action words

Since it has been awhile since I last updated you'all on life in the Northern climes. I figured it was time to do so, using actions words:

- visiting: My Mom and Dad came up for a visit last weekend! It was great! It was like a little mini-break... Though I had to work on the Friday, I got the Saturday off. We went for coffee, I showed my parents around Houston (which didn't take long) and then I showed them around Smithers (which took a little longer). We shopped a bit, went for coffee again, and then headed back home. It just great to be with them and hang around with them and talk and catch up. It was a little chilly to do any other type of sightseeing. We had our usual "books and runs" card game competition and Mike won them all! Grrr... But then on Sunday we played The Farming Game and I soundly defeated all of them. Ha. But on holidays you stay up late and eat appetizers at 10:00 at night and have some drinks... it felt just like Christmas! And also because they brought me some late birthday presents! Just what I needed.

- resting: Resting from the fact that we're not insanely painting every night until 11:00. Very nice. I've been able to spend more time on normal things like laundry (which I hadn't done in a week or so) and unpacking my books (very important).

- dodging: Dodging calls from people critical of my articles... I just pass the buck to my editor. Hey, I'm not paid enough to do that kind of work...

- deciding: On the finishing decorative touches... I've decided to go with blue in the bathroom and paint the little vanity dark brown. Almost a black brown. And I'm going to go to a different store to see what kind of colours they have. No more painting screw ups (so I hope!) And I've decided that the accent colour in the living room is going to be red. I saw these great red raw silk pillows in a shop in Smithers and they are wonderful - such a deep rich red colour. And I saw a great painting on sale at another store, but I know this lady who is a great painter and I'm going to call her to see how much she would charge if I commissioned a painting... It has to be big in order to fit over our couch. If you have any ideas, let me know...

- walking: All around the town. Though it snowed (yes! I know! Snow in May! - I guess the saying, "It'll be a snowy day July before... has no bearing around here, because it's possible to snow in July!) on the weekend (but it didn't stick) I've been out walking every other day and it's been beautiful. The Bulkley Valley is similar to the Fraser Valley in that the town is shadowed on each side by mountains. Sometimes I go walking and look up expecting to see Mount Baker.

- dreading: The thought of covering the council meeting tonight. I hope it's a short one. They are awfully boring...

- listing: the number of birthday cards I have to send. Both of our families have a lot of birthdays in May... What is it about August?

- studying: for a course I'm taking as a prereq for another course I hope to take in September. Crazy to do it? possibly. Behind already? Yup.

- gardening: I am a amateur gardener now! Or I will be as soon as I pick up seeds and my starter kit from Home Hardware.
Here's to my green thumb...

Hello there Diana,
I was wondering when you would get around to putting on another blog.
Nice to see that you are keeping busy with the new house and all. You were supposed to let me know when your parents were going down as I had some stuff for you remember??? Oh well next time you are down, or I guess I will have to mail it out to you.
Everthing here going all right. Talk to you later. Paulette
