ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you... a green thumb!
There you have it folks, there were some doubters (myself included), but I have success! The seeds have sprouted! I have a miniature garden of romaine lettuce, bush beans... but alas, the beets have not shown themselves yet... I guess the silver lining must have atleast one cloud to go with it.
But seriously, I've always wanted to garden but just never got around to it. So this marks the small success of my first, small venture into the world of horticulture. I'm starting off small, with half my garden planted with veggies like corn, lettuce, potatoes, beets and beans. The other half will be a creative flower garden with a slightly tousled look (you don't have to weed that, so my load will be light). I will keep you posted on this exciting process. All week I fluctuated between trying to be adult and cool and resisting the temptation to peek... but childish glee and impatience won out everytime and I just had to check. Every day. Sometimes twice.
When that first little bean sprout popped through the soil I was so excited you would think that Koko had kittens or something equally thrilling. Mike shot me this withering glance as if to say, Did you really just turn 27?
Feeling victorious, the successful if erstwhile gardener turns her attention to other activities... is songwriting in her future in the manner of Sarah Harmer?
